RoadOrigin privacy standards. This page explains how VINs, purchases, and report-access information are handled.

Information used

RoadOrigin processes VINs submitted for vehicle checks, purchase and support metadata, and limited operational information needed to prevent abuse and diagnose failures.

How VINs are handled

VINs are not placed in public report URLs or indexed pages. Production storage uses an encrypted VIN for authorized retrieval and a keyed fingerprint for deduplication. Ordinary logs and support views show only masked VINs.

Payments and providers

Card details are processed by Stripe and are not stored by RoadOrigin. Licensed history providers receive the VIN required to produce a purchased report under their own contractual and privacy obligations.

Retention and deletion

Report payload retention follows the licensed provider agreement. Financial and security records may be retained where required for accounting, fraud prevention or law. Customers may request deletion subject to those obligations.
